Hi, I’m Laura Hatton

a classical ballet teacher, coach, and currently the Associate Teacher for The Royal Ballet School’s Associate Programme in Leeds.

My own journey in dance began at the Skelton Hooper School of Dance in Hull when I was nine years old. At 14, I joined The Royal Ballet School’s Senior Associate Programme in Birmingham, and later went on to train at the Upper School in London under Dame Merle Park and Gailene Stock. During my time there, I had the privilege of performing with both The Royal Ballet and Birmingham Royal Ballet.

After an injury brought my professional performing career to an early end, I discovered a real passion for teaching. I completed my teaching qualifications through the Royal Academy of Dance and have now spent nearly 2 decades helping young dancers grow and thrive through The Royal Ballet School’s Junior and Senior Associate Programmes and through Private Coaching.

What drives my teaching is a deep understanding of what it means to be a young dancer - the ambition, the pressure, the joy, and sometimes, the setbacks. I bring empathy, structure, and a genuine love for the art form into every class. My aim is always to support each student as a whole person, helping them not only refine their technique but also build confidence, resilience, and self-awareness.

Alongside my role in Leeds, I also guest teach across vocational schools throughout England and internationally for The Royal Ballet School. I’m passionate about inspiring both artistry and discipline, and I believe that ballet can offer every student something meaningful - whether they’re aiming for a professional career or simply love to dance.
